Has it really been a year since we made our first plans to visit Africa?!  It seems longer, actually, and I've learned a valuable lesson.  NEVER, and I mean never, plan any trip this far in advance.  It seems so distant in your mind's eye, at the time you decide to go, and it feels like the day to travel might never come.

Our day has finally arrived and I'm almost "yeah, sure, Africa, whatever..."  I've read and researched and worried and wondered to the point that I feel over prepared.  Can that happen?  I don't think it should.

There's something about venturing into the unknown without every little thing settled...Settled into the bag (only 44 lb please), settled in the itinerary (no, no bungee off the Zambezi river bridge, thanks), settled in my head (do we need to take wax covered matches, just in case)...makes you wonder but,  the unknown is, after all, why I travel.

I tend to have a "figure it out, it'll be fun" style in my life anyway so travel suits me fine.  I like to live on the edge and I guess, that brings me to our trip and living on the edge of Victoria Falls for a couple of nights, but, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Stay tuned as I learn to blog...don't correct my spelling ( I know it's atrocious)...try to feel the wonder and excitement I'm feeling right now.  I can't wait to touch down in deepest, darkest Africa!
