Great to get to bed at 8.30pm but great sleep was unexpectedly interrupted at 9.30pm buy the boom of the fireworks display at Disneyland. Paul thought someone was trying to break into the room and leapt out of bed at a great rate wondering what on earth was happening, very funny! We had a fantastic view of a 15 minute display from our room. The boys slept through the whole thing as did the Gibsons, god know how as the noise was like a series of gunshots.
We were again woken, this time at 8.30am by the neighbours (the shift worker reckoned we have to get our body clocks to local time!!) Air New Zealand has a lot to answer for.
Off to Downtown Disney, a 10 walk from the hotel. A few boutique style clothing and fashion shops, Bearville (where you can make your own teddybear), ESPN shop, Ridemakersz (make your own remote control car), Rainforest Café with attached jungle themed products shop. Sam’s favourite shop was the Lego shop where he made several purchases (and has already made up two) his comment was "This is just like Christmas’. We spent the most time in The World of Disney shop that has all the Disney themed products. Big area of Christmas items and Halloween. Have a feeling we will be back there several times.
Had planned on a couple of hours there but five hours later we ambled back with a taste of the wonderland that is Disney, and an armful of parcels.
Was a little overcast when we left this morning but sun was out by the time we got back so kids went for a swim for an hour before getting ready for Medieval Times dinner and show.
We took the scenic route (apparently the GPS was at fault!!) but eventually arrived at the arena and were placed in the green corner to support the green Knight in the jousting tournament. We thought the kids would love it and they did. Clapping and cheering each time out knight did anything or went past our corner, while drinking our soup out of the bowl and eating our half chicken, couple of potato wedges and a spare rib with our fingers – knives and forks weren’t an option, no wonder the kids loved it!! The best part was our knight was the victor, not that we are competitive!!
When we left the venue, parked outside was a nine metre limo (yes the quantity surveyor amongst us stepped it out!!). The driver was waiting outside and he opened it up for us to have a look in. Seats 20 people, background neon lighting very cool. Next trip we need another couple of families so we can justify upgrading the ‘A Team’ van.
Home for a swim and team meeting in the spa where we watched the Disneyland fireworks. Serious shopping day tomorrow.
