My flight from Adelaide to Cairns was only 2 hours 45 minutes, but it felt much longer. The clouds cleared for a while, it looked like we were flying over the centre of Australia. The ground looked very baron, with no houses in sight, you could only see the vein like features of dried up river beds.

As soon as I walked out of the airport in Cairns, my glasses instantly fogged from the humidity. On the bus ride to the city the rain was heavy, ‘Welcome back to the tropics Vicki’ lol. After following directions from my friend I managed to find his house at Bentley Park, South Cairns. I spent 5 days based there, it was lovely to catch up with him after 2 years. While I was staying there I popped into the city centre a couple of times. I noticed a few changes to the city. On Grafton Street there is now a legal graffiti wall down a side alley way, the work on the wall is wicked. Also a building on the corner of  Sheilds Street and Abbott Street looked new with a new shopping centre but it looked so new many of the unites hadn’t been allocated yet. I also had a couple of days of just chilling out. I had felt like I hadn’t really stopped since I began travelling, so really enjoyed a couple of days just being totally lazy and having some me time while my mate was at work.
