Oh, life's a beach isn't it! I love it on Ipanema beach. We spent another 4 hours there today and it was great.
Also noticed there were a few more classy beach babes around today as well. Obviously I wasn't interested but I was keeping an eye on things for Phil.

After lunch we walked the full length of Copacabana beach. As it was a beautifully hot & sunny afternoon, this was a great walk. We also completed the amazing task of not stopping off for any beers.....we made up for this later.

This evening we met up with Neil in Louise who we met in Thailand last year. We've actually been close to bumping into them on quite a few occasions during our travels....but I'm sure they kept deliberately avoiding us.....mind you, who wouldn't I suppose.
Anyway, this evening we managed to trap them and forced them to come to our apartment for a few beers & wine. Strangely, because beer and wine were involved, they didn't resist at all.....our kind of people.

Neil & Louise are a really nice couple from Chester and although Neil is a Liverpool fan, we all seem to get on really well! Lol.
We spent a couple of hours in the apartment boozing away and reminiscing on our travels. It was really good to catch up and hear different stories of travelling to the same places.
Around 10pm we finally managed to go out for a beer. We first headed to the local Irish bar and had a few pints in there. It was funny because in the Brazilian bars you have a minimum spend limit!! Basically you had to spend a minimum of R$15 each before you were allowed to leave! They really should introduce this type of thing in England, then when Lorna moans that I'm late coming home, I can say they wouldn't let me leave until I'd spent all my money!! Brilliant.

We then went searching for some Ipanema night life, but it's not really existent. We did find a café style bar where Lorna indulged in a mug of wine! Don't be fooled by the photo, it's not tea, it's definitely wine!
Finally we found a lively bar playing some funky tunes down a little seedy back street - felt like home! We ended up getting thrown out of here at about 3.30am!

It was a really enjoyable and fun night out, after which, we just collapsed in bed.....well I did, Lorna took 3 or 4 attempts before she finally actually landed on the bed!! But she was only merry - so she kept saying!
