We took a walk into the centre of Salta today. Priorities were to check out the supermarket and go to the ATM. Banks would only give out ARG 500 (about 90) and then said we had exceeded daily limit!
We needed ARG 520 for the bus to Buenos Aires! We finally found a 'Link' machine that basically just kept spitting money out at us - the only worry is that this machine may have charged us. It didn't say anything on the ATM about charging, but we all know the reputation of these 'Link' ATM's!

We then had a wander to the museum. We don't think it had too much to offer and we decided against going in when we found out it was over 6 each to get in!! This was a great deal more than the 'Lonely Liars' advertised price of about 1!! 5 extra pounds is about 5 litres of beer!!

As it was nearly lunch time we went to a nearby sandwich shop and grabbed a couple of beef baguettes to eat on the square. These baguettes were lovely and only 50p each. We sat in the main plaza near the fountain, under a clear blue sky and hot sun. As we have been at such a high altitude for the past month, it is nice to get back to the scorching temperatures!

After a visit to the supermarket for some fruit and drinks, we went to the bus Terminal to book our bus to Buenos Aires. We used Flechabus again, but this time have got 'cama' seats - more comfortable and almost bed-like. The bus leaves tomorrow at 16.10 and is about an 18-19 hour journey.

After all this early activity we decided to take the 'Teleferico' up to the top of 'Cerro San Bernado'. This is a gondola/cable-car up to the top of a large hill overlooking the city. For a change, the gondola's actually seemed quite safe....we think!

From the top of the hill there were some fantastic views over the city. There were also some cascading waterfalls, a large cross and a statue of Christ - no, not a cross Christ, they were two separate erections from the early 1900's. Oh dear, I have just used the words 'Christ' and 'erection' in the same sentence - there's a first!

Also on the hill was a small bar with great views of the city. We decided to partake in a large beverage of the alcoholic variety! Beer, great views, blue skies.....perfect.

We walked back down from the top of the hill....more blummin' steps! This Inca Trail is going to haunt me forever - we are going to get a bungalow when we get home! As we got to the bottom, we went past the Guemes monument and headed back to the hostel.

We spent the next couple of hours chilling by the pool - this was great having a pool again. We made use of the free internet - it actually goes forward here unlike Bolivia! It was then shower time before heading out.

We went back down to the main square this evening to the 'City Bar' for a beer before dinner. In the square itself there was a religious march going on. As they got to our side of the square, they all stopped in front of a statue of Christ. As there were so many people in the march, they ended up surrounding the table we were sat at. It was at this moment that we realised there was a load of religious worshipers, praying around two 'Vickers'!! Interesting. Our faith will be followed World-wide - we just carried on drinking our beer....the true faith!!

We got to the restaurant we had chosen for about 9pm - this was early by South American standards, but we were starving. We ordered the mixed grill for two and a side order of chips. It was huge!! (See photo's). On the sizzler was chicken, steak, kidney, ribs, sausage, pork and intestines which I'm sure still had sh*t in them! Only kidding. The food was absolutely fantastic and we enjoyed every bit of it! I think we are going to enjoy our food in Argentina.

We also had a bottle of wine with our meal and was force fed two desserts as well! The whole meal cost about 10! Brill! Around two hours later we waddled back to the hostel.
