Where I stayed
We went to check out the trains and buses to Salta today. We have decided to get the train from Tupiza to Villazon, then walk across the border to Argentina and then grab a bus to Salta. We haven't got anything booked and the trains are apparently always delayed so it looks like it will be a long day on Thursday!!
As we are still in Tupiza tomorrow, we have decided to book a 3 hour horse riding session around the local area. Apparently it's a bit like the Wicky Wicky Wild Wild West out there, so we shall see. We set off at 10am tomorrow morning.
We then took a walk around central Tupiza....this took about 30 seconds! It's not a very big place. OK, so maybe 30 seconds is a bit harsh. We had a walk round the main plaza then headed up to the Mirador. It only took 10 minutes to walk up here, but it did give you a good view all over Tupiza.
We were the only people up here and it was so peaceful. We decided to stay a while and even ended up having a game of cards. This is where Lorna fell foul to my amazing card abilities. Lorna won the first game and then bet a Twix she would win the next....oh dear! The sadness and devastation on her face when she lost was unbearable! She then started with the "it wasn't really a bet", and "let's just have another game to decide"! It was a sad and sorrowful sight so I allowed her to have half of the Twix....such a nice husband I am.
After Lorna had recovered from the Twix vents, we went down to the main plaza to sit and have some sandwiches we'd made earlier.
After a chill out in the hostel we nipped to the bank to change a few dollars - there is no ATM here. Then we tried the internet again, but it was still going backwards and had almost reached 1932! This has stopped us from being able to book a hostel online for Salta - we want to book ahead as we may not get there until the middle of the night! We will try again tomorrow, but expecting failure, we will have to give one a call.
After a shower and change, I took Lorna to the same restaurant I went to last night. The food is pretty good here. Lorna is eating at full power again so I had to guard my pizza vigilantly tonight!
We also had a few beers, and once again I got a free one (they forgot to add one on the bill). This has continued my record of at least one unintentional free beer in every Country we've been to - marvellous!
