We were going to stay 2 nights at Mission but as there wasn't much going on, we decided to head off to Townsville instead. It was about a 3 hour trip and we didn't stop on the way, just expressed in down straight through. Except for when we crossed a creek called 'Lorna Creek'. Well, we had to stop and take a photo so that we could show everyone Lorna's creek!!
We decided to stop at Rowes Bay Van Park, which was on Rowes Bay surprisingly. We had lunch here before heading into the town centre. It's quite a decent sized town and not a frontier looking town for a change - it's very quiet though. This is supposed to be an army & student town, but there wasn't much going on at this time. Maybe it's the holidays - for the students that is, not the army! I can just imagine the Aussie PM calling up all the nations in the World asking for a pause on all conflicts while his troops have a week off for BBQ's and surfing!! Mind you, ya never know with the Aussies!
We picked up some ear drops as one of my ears has buggered up. Think it's to do with swimming in bacteria-ridden swimming holes and dodgy urine-infested park pools! Anyway, hopefully a few drops of this stuff may help. Although, being deaf in one ear does have it's advantages when spending 24/7 with the wife for 12 months!!
Apparently, the name for my ear problem is 'Swimmers Ear'! Lol! They must have spent hours thinking up that one!!
We managed to get some of that good, cheap steak for tonight, so all was good. Lorna went for a swim in the pool, my ear didn't want to go in, then we finally did some laundry again. The rotten underwear was beginning to cause a rash.
We managed to have dinner and sit outside again without getting bombarded by bugs. I think that this is probably the main downside to Oz. Sometimes you just can't sit or eat outside because of being eaten alive by some insect type thing. It's not all the time, but it bugs you when it happens. (sorry).
