Not much to say about today's journey but it did seem different to yesterday.
One thing we noticed was the dead kangaroo's were missing! Blummin' hillbilly thieves.

Oh, forgot to mention, there was a power failure in Cooktown overnight and it was still down this morning. We therefore couldn't get any petrol still, they just don't let you leave here!! A real inbred hillbilly type started talking to us and after judging his Aussie issues we then found out he was originally from near Newquay in Cornwall!! He knew all the places we've been to at Easter!! He was still an inbred hippy though! We did just go anyway and made it to Lakeland before we ran out.

We have been hearing about loads of bad storms in the South, but we haven't seen a thing here. It's been hot & sunny with clear skies up North. Lets hope they are getting all the rain out the way before we get there.

We arrived in Kuranda which is a rainforest village in the afternoon. We took a walk through town and then along the Barren River. This looked just like the Mekong River we went down on inner tubes. Brown and slimey! It was very humid all through the rainforest and by the river, but we didn't see any croc's which pleased Lorna.

We found a little café bar that had T'internet and a live artist playing some good old tunes. We hung around here for an hour or so doing a few emails and listening to some tunes. Very chilled.

We had a treat for dinner tonight - steak. It really is cheap for steak here so we decided in indulge. Steak, jacket potatoes and pepper sauce - mmmmm!

We then sat outside the van listening to the wildlife whilst sinking a few bevvies. This is the life!

We were still leaving the back door of the campervan open as we slept overnight to try and make things cooler. The mozzie net is still keeping the bugs out as well, so it's really good.
Tonight when we were in the can we heard some rustling outside and when we turned to look out the back door, there were four kangaroo's there just going about their eating & playing. We couldn't believe they were so close to the van with us inside and the door open. Then we realised they couldn't see us through the mozzie net, no matter how much we moved about. We lay there for about an hour just watching them hopping around and eating. Because it was dark, and we have a crap camera, the photo's haven't come out to well, but they're not bad. So, at least we've seen some Rooo-ney's in the wild.

We also saw some strange birds that look like veloceraptors!! They even move like the one's on Jurassic Park and they stare at you the same. They are about a foot tall and are probably harmless, but they are still best avoided in my eyes!!
