We were up at 7am today to go on our hike. We got given waterproofs to wear and a pair of crampons for our boots. This is to make it easier, and safer, to walk on the glacier.

We had a 45 minute walk to the bottom of the glacier. It's only when you get here that you fully appreciate the 11km's of glacier that's slowly creeping down the mountain. It actually moves one metre per day at the bottom, and 5 metres per day at the top!

We were on the ice for about 6 hours and it was amazing! Walking on the ice in crampons was a strange feeling. We went through loads of blue ice caves and along many crevices in the ice (probably spelt that wrong). We had to squeeze through really tightly packed walls of blue ice which made you feel like you were on a different planet. Because we were high up the mountain, the sky changed quite regularly from clear blue skies to dark mist. It was really weird but made the scenery even more fantastic! It were brill, as Trev would say.

In the evening we all hit the bar to chat about our trips. It became a long night of many drinks and cheesy music. Lorna got herself a little merry and fell off her stool. Reminded me of Lisa Peat-Bailey doing the same thing on her trip!!
