Got woke up at 6am by some stupid Chinese tannoy announcement that went all through the whole boat - gits!!
Anyway, we docked at a place called Wushan for a couple of hours today. This is the town that was built to accommodate all the people that had been displaced due to the flooding of the villages as the dam was built. It's pretty big, but it didn't feel like it had any soul really, I suppose that is due to it's lace of a long term history for a town this size. We just had a wander round, but it was absolutely hammering it down, so we wnet back to the boat after about an hour.
We set sail again about lunchtime, so that mean't pot noodle time of course!
We then sailed through one of the more narrow gorges. This actual gorge is the one that is shown on the back of a 10 Yuan note. Photo's were taken of course so we can set up out counterfeit operation upon our return home! 10 Yuan is about 70p, so I think initially business will be a little slow, so I will continue to complete my credit card fraud for now!!
Next stop was a place called Fengie (can't remember how this is spelt so will correct it later - actually, for all you care I could have just put Shirebrook in here!!).
The whole group of us took a walk round, but there was absolutely nothing to this village except some small temple. So we decided it was time to make a local man rich. We descended on this poor guy that was pushing round a fridge full of beer - and proceeded to empty it for him! He must have thought he'd won the lottery. Then like a true bunch of layabouts, we sat under a bridge and consumed the lot! All we needed then was a kebab house, but alas, none were available.
We then rejoined the boat to play drunken Mahjong....for cash! This seemed risky at first, but we were only playing for 1 Yuan a game - about 8 pence!!
The drinking theme continued through the evening, night and earyly hours. It was only considered we had had enough when we were threatening to board a nearby vessel and throw the locals overboard - so to bed it was.....except for Adrian & Gilly.....who just talked until 4am....honest.....just talked....I think they were obviously speaking in body language!!!!
Tomorrow we are back to Yichang.
