On Friday, I went around London for a few hours in the morning with a quasi-uncle, who's not quite related to my family. We went around the Victoria and Albert Museum reallyyyy fast, and it was really interesting so I'd like to go back at a slightly slower pace. :)
After that, I got my first Indian food since California -- chicken korma, mmmm! Then I was off to Paddington Station to take the train to Oxford, to visit Sarah! After being quickly introduced to her college (Lady Margaret Hall), and meeting a lot of her friends, we made our way out as the sun was setting... 3:45pm. In a race against time, she tried to show me most of the cool buildings in the city centre before it was dark, and it is indeed a charming town!
Also, I saw the Sanatorium from the Harry Potter movies, since they filmed that at Oxford. Then it was time for.... cream tea! At The Rose, on High Street. It was absolutely delicious. Little finger sandwiches, delicious tea, and of course most importantly, scones and some kind of quasi-butter-quasi-cream.
And lemon cake! Then a few different pubs that night, where I had wheat beer, and good old Paulaner German beer. For dinner, we ate at a really good place on High Street where we had tasty burgers, mmmm!
The next day, Sarah took me to her favourite place, the Covered Market. They have the legendary Ben's Cookies, which was warm and gooey and chocolatey. That night was a French restaurant, where I had Breton cider, yum yum! And for dessert, we shared crêpes, including one that was served flambée
, on fire! Mulled wine at the pub was the perfect way to finish the evening.
