We have booked our flights to the States for October...EXCITING!!! We now have something to really look forward to and it's really happening now. We got (what we think) a good price for a multi city ticket London - St Louis - Miami - London, so we grabbed it while we still could. The dates were pretty much set for us considering we are going to St Louis for my friends Jared and Tara's wedding.
The booking didn't go completely smoothly - first I tried to use my Irish credit card...but not to be. Apparently you cannot load funds onto them to purchase something beyond your credit card limit as you can in Australia - even though I had transfered the total amount of the booking across the the credit card they wouldn't let me book it as the purchase was over my credit card limit. Stupid Irish banks - I have not been impressed with them at all!
Very, very exciting and to top it off friends have now offered accommodation for most, if not all, of our stay there. We were originally going to stay in hostels and hotels. The day after the wedding we are heading to Miami for 8 nights... ah..sun, sand and beach - yes please! We are not sure where we are going to stay there as yet.
Before heading to the States we are planning to visit a friend in Sardinia, Italy, visit Tuscany and Rome before staying with another friend in Vasto, Italy. We hope to then make our way to France for a day or so in Paris, Marseilles (stay with another friend) for a few day and then Nice before heading to London to catch our flight to the USA. Fingers crossed it all works out!
I tried to plan a day trip to Wicklow (just south of Dublin) with Roisin last weekend, as Max was working, but the weather turned pretty crap that day so we decided to give it a miss and we'll do it another time when Max isn't working. Not sure when that will be as he seems to be working most weekends lately.
Max and I are both finding our jobs a bit depressing at the moment. For me it is the simple fact that I don't have much to keep me busy during the days. Add to that the fact that people just don't seem to like to talk at this workplace makes for a very boring and dull day. I am here to meet people, make new friends, etc... not much hope of that happening at work. Max is finding it hard having to work a lot of nights and weekends, which means we really don't get to see each other that much. His job is busy, which is good, but standing on your feet for around 7 hours a day and constantly dealing with the public (not all of them nice) can get wearing I imagine. Oh well, not long now I guess......well that is what we try and tell ourselves!!
