Where I stayed
Bothe Napa State Park
Before that, and just so no one thinks we avoided hiking a bit, we did do 3 hours along the Napa Valley Park. A wonderful trek with plenty of birdlife.
Anyway, after the healthy start of the day we thought we could first visit the so publisized wine museum of the Napa Valley (called Copia) and then do a couple of wine tastings. What could go wrong? Well you might have guessed...its October and they have introduced the winter timetable at the museum (even though there were dozens of people waiting outside). So visits are only on weekends! Bummer number one...
Bummer number 2....most of the vineyards are minute and there is thousands of them making it difficult to select. Additionally most of them charge a fee for the visit, and if they dont they were closed. A fee to sell you their product? Get out of here! So a total disappointment.
Bummer number 3....everything is overprized around here. Obviously they are taking the piss from people who relate wine with expensiveness...there should be cheaper offers, especially if it originates there. Anyway!
We did however find a great place for lunch (Taylor's) and it was a great sunny day. So that part was excellent. We just had to forget about Napa, do some wine shopping in the supermarket and do our own particular wine tasting at the campground. Delicious!
