Where I stayed
Bahia de Omoa - $25 double, ensuite, large, a-c, clean
Yesterday we arrived safely at Omoa from Copan Ruins. We enjoyed 3 hours of luxury class bus with Hedman Alas company (320 Lempiras per person - $17 pp which is about 4 times the normal price). It was strange to have a film on board and crisps and drinks offered in the price. We hadnt enjoyed this level of transport since we left Chile some months back...
The bus from Copan left us at San Pedro Sula (new bus station) where we just jumped into another small bus which sped all the way to Omoa.
Our desire was to stay as little as possible at San Pedro given it has nothing touristy to offer and its the worst criminal hub in the area (perhaps in Central America?). So the less time the better.
Omoa is a local beach resort and has not much to offer, but basically we are just here to wait to take the boat to Belize on Monday morning.
We checked into the Bahia de Omoa hotel. The owner of our hotel is German and offered us to take us to the boat on Monday, which is a great relief. Beside that we will do not much more then eat, drink, sleep and watch TV. Two days not getting on a bus is quite a rest!
Cheerio!
