What a great relaxing day! Its excellent to have some "holidays within the holidays!" ha ha.

For the first time for a few weeks we have been able to sleep without suffering loud music outside, drunk gringos, tvīs from other rooms, traffic, etc, etc. It was peaceful and very, very silent. Vilcabamba does mean "Divine Place"...there is a good reason behind it!

With that good rest on our bodies we went on a 5 hour horse ride with a local guide called "Jolgar". His name is German and he is married to a German girl that has moved to Vilcabamba. Apart from being a great guide, the horses are in excellent shape and the saddles are the best we have had upto date. So comfortable.

The nice thing about Ecuadorian horses is their step. Its like a little dance, and when they gallop the rider is hardly lifted at all. Excellent.

The ride took us high up the mountains surrounding Vilcabamba and to a huge waterfall at the end. All for US$ 20.

We enjoyed it so much, and the quality is so high that we will do a full day trip on Wednesday. Tomorrow we will rest our backsides by the pool.

Film tonight: "Blood Diamonds".
