Where I stayed
We met up with the trekking group at the Irish pub at Plaza de Armas (claims to be the highest Irish owned pub in the world), and guess what...it was full of Irish and English spending their holidays watching football and drinking beer! Nothing new there...
So we watched all the European football matches which eating some great food for not at all expensive prices, and then agreed to go to watch the Cienciano (Cusco) versus Flamingo (Brasil) in the South American Libertadores Cup (same as the European Champions League).
The atmosphere outside the stadium was an excellent experience, with thousands of t-shirt sellers and all the fan stuff. All tourists (including Marcos) bought a local team T-Shirt (Cienciano Cristal Beer one) in order to blend in a bit more. They were only 10 soles anyway (2 euros) for a T-shirt which looks great although we will have to wait for the first wash...or not wash it!
The match itself was fun to be at, not because of the football in which the local Cienciano showed how bad a team can play if they try (they lost 0-3), but because of the singing, and the hundreds of sellers of all sorts of food and drink.
