Yes, we survived the 20 hour bus trip, with 3 young screaming children on board!

Well, everyone keeps saying that Buenos Aires is similar to Paris. We realise how true this is the moment we arrived....the bus station is full of tramps outside! However, we dont seem to see any dog pooh anywhere. Surely the guide book was not referring to the tramps? There is no strike at the airport neither (read Orly airport today...)

Jokes apart, first impression is more of old Madrid (Gran Via and perpendicular streets) than Paris.

We will update later in the week with some pictures and stories so you can decide on the similarities.

Good Luck in Buenos Aires!
I went there almost 3 years ago with my daughter and we loved it. I thought it was a lot like Paris when we were walking around some of the smaller streets off Avenida 14 de Junio. If you haven't got your itinerary totally planned I would look into taking a day trip to an estancia. My daughter loved the horses and the traditional dance show that we saw at the one we were at.

Re: Good Luck in Buenos Aires!
Its a great city to walk around. It does have an air of Paris to it, although we sincerly see more Madrid and Spanish like buildings to it.

Our comments are ironic, but we did actually find a bit of doggie doo on the street, and the casino workers blocked Avenida de Mayo in protest...so Paris similarity is gaining points!

We are going to try estancias at Uruguay first and then might return to other estancias in Argentina. Any estancia you can recommend in Argentina?
