There was about 160 passengers on board the vessel which gave us a good opportunity to see who else was travelling around, and develop a statistic of nationalities travelling in Chile (for the time being). We have found the following list of nationalities travelling by numbers of people we bumped into:
1st Place: Swiss (incredible but true). According to them "its fashionable and Swiss people are boring so follow each other so once someone goes somewhere nice the rest follow" (quoting a bright Swiss traveller).
2nd Place: Canadians (French ones)
3rd Place: Argentinians
4th Place: US Americans
5th Place: Germans (fewer than expected)
6th Place: Spaniards (mostly male)
7th Place: 2 catalonians who insisted Catalonia is not Spain.
On board the bunkbeds where much better than expected in the sense that there was quite an acceptable level of privacy. We chose the cheaper "Literas C" which is about one third the price in comparison to Cabins. There are only 4 people per bunkbed section and most have windows with views to the sea.
Sadly for the Cabin people, they are more cramped into a room with 2 other people they normally dont know, have to share bathroom and get same food, service, etc...so not worth going for Cabin unless you are 4 in the group...even then not probably worth it. Plus they are located near the cargo and the rubbish. The smell after 4 days of unusual constant sun onto the open rubbish bins was extraordinary.
