A few days back at Santiago with Veronikaīs family and preparing the trip for the Southern Hemisphere (new tent, burning fluid, dehydrated food, etc).

We have 3 projects down South which need some logistical preparation:

1- Boat trip from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas (4 days and 3 nights on board), including visits to 2 glaciers and onboard Bingo, Pub and Live Music...all food included. We have our tickets already given it is high season here and quickly booked.

Boarding date 21st of January: http://www.navimag.com/en/canales/sur/mapa_ruta.asp
US $ 370 per person including all food, entertainment, etc.

2- 7 day trekking at Torres del Paine National Park. It will be a combination of 17 km walks per day with camping in the wild (snow, winds, rain, sun). http://www.torresdelpaine.com/secciones/02/portada.asp

For this project we have been steadily increasing our walking habits in the tough Chilean dry summer (35 degrees and up). Yesterday we managed to walk East Santiago to West visiting at least 20 shops (a tough challenge). But Torres del Paine is a tough challenge and should be taken seriously...

3- Beating all the rest of the Tourists around the South part during the Chilean Summer. Mainly is Argentinians, Brasilians, Aussies and US citizens. Go Obama! Go!

Other things to comment:
- Pint of Beer in Santiago terrace = 1.30 Euro
- Haircut = 3 Euro
- Full menu lunch (starter, main, dessert plus drink and bread) = 3 Euros at the Firemenīs restaurants. We went to one of the most famous ones in Santiago de Chile. Believe us...the food was good and service quick and friendly. So we will be visiting quite a few of these in our Chilean trip. http://www.laheroica.cl/

No more for the time being. Next trip 10th of January (Santiago - Chillan)
