Early rise to go to the Ljubljana train station (Marta the apartment owner took us for Euro 5). Rainy start to the day but soon cleared.

Wonderful train ride with a few stops before the frontier at Dobova. 2 passport checks, one at each side of the frontier and on board the train. One passport stamp passing into Croatia. Well worth the trip through the mountains. 2 hours.

Luxury hotel for us tonight (4 star) which we dont normally go to, but given its only one night and not much expected to be done in Zagreb we decided to pamper ourselves. Its also next to the train station so will be an easy walk to the train tomorrow towards the Coast. We already bought the tickets for tomorrow - so everything according to plan.

Walk around Zagreb which is quite a small capital (800,000 inhabitants) and easy to walk from one side to the other

Lunch at Dalco fruit & vegetable market. Delicious pasta products - as they say here "better than in Italy!".

Nothing much more. The place is full of terraces and cafes (one in each corner and 5 in each road), but little else. It has more of an eastern ex-soviet (although it never was soviet as such) capital. A bit of paint needed...
