Where I stayed
Batusangkar is the capitol of Tanah Datar regency. This place was once known as Fort Van de Capellan during colonial times when it was a Dutch outpost established during the Padri War (1821 - 1837). The city was later renamed to Batusangkar in 1949 replacing its colonial name.
This is a very scenic location and the speciality found here is the wild Sun Flowers that grows in abundance along the streets. Though at high altitude, this particular flower is found in abundance here and it is different compared to the common sunflower found else where.
Here, we had a brief stop to enjoy the view and I could not resist the temptations of taking some of the flowers' photographs although it grew along the hilly ravines. Here the stop was rather brief and then we continued to our next destination.
