Tomorrow I shall be going on a trip to the province of North Sumatera, Indonesia. Unlike my previous travels where I mostly travelled alone, this time my parents were coming along too. Of course they have visited this place, but that was something like 18 years ago. Im sure after all these years, there must be some significant changes that have taken place in this region.
My last trip here was in 2009 but it was specifically focussed on to the city of Medan, Indonesia's third largest city with a population of 15 million people. As per the usual, any trip going to Indonesia, I would always book with my usual travel agent P.T. Era Travel & Tours in Pekanbaru as they would always be able to give me a very good deal.
Without an exception, the same occurred this time as well. Of course, I did do some shopping here as well for the packages but they still could beat the pricing and above that, instead of following a SIC (Sit In Coach), I was given a private transfer, which means a dedicated driver and car. Above all, its a full package, which means with all meals inclusive.
I had booked my tickets much earlier and it cost me around RM 380 for two return tickets and since my parents confirmed later, at that time, it had cost me around RM 550. Anyway, its still so much cheaper than Malaysian Airlines. Of yes, I did travel with Air Asia Indonesia.
I figured that a private transfer would be ideal especially with my parents around where in any case if they had felt tired, we could always make adjustments to the travel plans as the road travel in Indonesia is always a very tiring one. If at any time the vehicle could go faster that 50 KM/hour, that is a very good speed and the chances of which is always remote. With the light packing, as it is only a five days travel, we were all set and ready to go on this trip.
I hope we have a good time there and shall keep the postings coming.
