Today was our last day here and later this evening we have to board the flight back to Malaysia. I had been promoting the desert safari to all my friends and they were very keen to try this. However, all the desert safari packages start at 3pm and end at 11pm everyday which was impossible for us to join as we would have been at the exhibition.

However, one of my friends manage to source for a private company which could provide us this service in the morning session. The usual price for this safari is RM 350....some even quote USD 300 which is absurd. We managed to get the package from this guy at a reasonable rate of AED 100 per pax. We got him to fetch us at 8am at the hotel. Also we had informed the hotel on the late check out at 2pm. According to this guy Joe, he could send us back by 12 noon which was ideal.

All set for the safari, we all left the hotel excited and this is my second experience and the first for the rest. Once we arrived at Lahbab which was 1 hour journey from Dubai, we stopped for a while just to go to toilets at a small ranch beside the desert. Here there were various animals which you could ride in the desert for a small fee. I think it is around AED 10 per person. We opted out for these and told him to proceed to the desert.

The journey started on the desert and it was really fun. After around 15 minutes of desert safari, everyone, i mean everyone except me, started vomiting. They could not take the way the jeep was turning and tumbling. I guess they must have started cursing me in their hearts.

However, from what I had told them, they were somewhat prepared for it as well. I told them not to have breakfast earlier but none listened and everyone came on a full stomach. Gosh....must have seen them. Every 15 minutes along the way, we had to take breaks for them to throw out. Pity them.

Finally when we reached the pinacle of a hill, we stopped there for around 30 minutes to enjot the scenery but the weather was hot. God knows what the temperature was, we were in the middle of a desert and it was almost noon when the sun was at its peak.

Finally, it was time for us to leave. The entire journey from the desert back to the hotel, it was pin drop silence in the jeep. All the faces green and none spoke a word. Once we arrived at the hotel, we agreed to have a short break, freshen up and meet again at the lobby at 2pm for check out and to head to the airport.

Interesting entry Venoth. Pity the ladies, probably they did not expect this.

Hi Jay, yeah I guess so. They might have underestimated my earlier advice. Anyway thanks for dropping by.

Hi John Smith, I believe that you must have gone with a very unexperienced group. I have been with my 'usual guy' twice and have recommended him to many, all came back happy and satisfied. I do understand that some of these guys do charge as high as AED 450 per person but thats all real crap and massive swindling happening there. Next time, if you happen to go to Dubai and wish to try this, do speak to my usual guy. His name is Joel and this is his contact. 0097 156 1060 794. Alternatively, you could email him at joelsotto716@yahoo.com . He only charges AED 100 per pax and the service level is very good.
