Upon arrival, the first thing we did was to get a quick dinner at a
local restaurant and then headed straight for the temple.

Upon
arrival at the temple, the daily Puja is over but yet there was a lot of
work going on especially the community efforts in preparing and cutting
the vegetables for lunch the next day. Joined in with them and assisted
where possible.



Walked around the temple too and as usual, when
you meet old friends after a long time, the usual catch up chat was
happening. Then at sharp midnight, the official puja began which marks
the beginning of the festival. It starts with the consecration of the
cooking utensils for the next days event and then milk is being boiled
to mark the consecration ceremony.



Then continued assisting with
so work here and there and left the temple at 2.30 am for home. Needed
to get some sleep as we had to wake up early the next morning to go to
the riverside for the kavadi and milk pot bearing ceremony.
