Golden Mermaid at Samila Beach

We went on a family trip to Hatyai & Songkhla. As you can see, this was in the year 1992 and I was still schooling. Upon arrival min Hatyai, we checked in to the hotel and left our luggage in the room. Then we drove to Songkhla. Our first destination was Samila Beach and the Golden Mermaid. I was told then that touching the Golden Mermaid would bring us luck. We all had a swim in the sea there. After swimming until evening, we headed back to Hat Yai. Along the way, we stopped at Nora Plaza, which is a tourist shopping spot. Everything here is pretty expensive as prices have been adopted (increased) for tourists.

We then headed back to the hotel in Hatyai and called it a day. We were very tired as we drove overnight from my hometown in Tanjung Malim, Perak, Malaysia.
