From the city, we were driven out of city passing some Jewish settlements and then to this place called Yarra Bend Park. This is the only remaining bushland near Melbourne spanning an area of 260 hectares. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



This park is open 24 hours a day and even has two beautiful golf courses and is a famous place for the city dwellers to come for both cycling and jogging. The weather is simply beautiful at this time of the year and in the early mornings, it can be quite cold. 

The great thing about this park is that it is home to the Grey Headed Flying Foxes which is a kind of bat. You can see them in abundance everywhere and they live on these trees here both for home and as food supplies and they support each other in terms of maintaining the eco system. 

We were taken to two separate look out areas to view these lovely bats. They do make a loud screeching noise which you could hear through the video which I have attached. The place is absolutely beautiful and I was told that there is a colony of aborigines living within this park too.

Here, we also set up a small breakfast tent and had our breakfast and tea here, courtesy of the tour provider. The flora and fauna here is great and there are many other activities that one can do too. There are camping spots and also places for anglers to fish.

We spent about an hour here before moving on to our next destination.
