As the procession came into the temple, it was a fiesta. The temple bells started ringing and the prayers had already started to receive the group.

They have to circulate the temple proper three times and then march into the main temple towards the shrine of Lord Thandayuthapani. Then it starts with the Temple Kavadi where the milk pots that were carried containing milk is poured on the idol and this is called 'abishega'.

This goes on until all the milk pots are done with and this in itself takes approximately at least an hour and half. After this the main shrine is closed for a while before the next puja which starts at noon.

I have also included two videos of the milk abishegam just to give you a feel as to the actual happening there.

Once the abishegam is concluded, all the milk pot carriers are literally tired and find the nearest possible spot to sit and get some rest before heading home to have a bath and get dressed to be back to the temple. Of course, some do stay on but since the town is not that big, heading home is not a big deal and one could do it in about 10 minutes....at most.
