What I did
Genting Highlands

It was just at the lunch table from the previously visited restaurant that we decided to head to Genting Highlands.

This is a fun hill resort that is famous for two things, the casino and the play land. We had already expected the fact that it would be very crowded today and hence decided to drive up to the cable car station and the take the cable car up.

I would not be writing much about this place as I have had numerous entries in the past with detailed description and history of this place. Today's trip, it was just the three of us as my mother was too tired and she decided to stay back at home.

Thus the three of us head up to this beautiful hill resort which is quite close to Kuala Lumpur. It was an easy drive up and since we started from Tanjong Malim, we decided to use the Batang Kali route and not the Karak Highway which is the easier access road from Kuala Lumpur.

Within about 45 minutes, we were at the cable car station and the crowd was humongous. We were informed that it would take at least three hours before our turn. If we were to wait, it would be meaningless for us to go up as this was only another day trip. We then got hold of a taxi driver and he wanted RM 80 just to take us the short distance. But since it was very packed and the roads jammed, we did not want to get our car overheated and break down along the way and then we agreed to the fee.

True enough, all along the way, quite a number of cars were stranded due to overheating. Once up, we were walking around. In fact we decided to walk outdoors and not follow the indoor escalators though it was quite a strain but my dad was up to it. It is good because we get to see more things and get to enjoy the cool weather which was the prime reason for us to come here.

We walked all the way to First World Hotel which is one of the most happening areas and seated at a place by the curb where we could see into the outdoor theme park watching all the fun happening there.

We were there for almost three hours and then my brother suggested that lets take a walk inside the casino and so we did. Photography is not allowed inside the casino and I had to rent a locker to place my camera inside.

Right after the casino, which wasn't too long as none of us gamble, we head into the Indoor Theme Park to get some food. We found a good restaurant which had an extended indoor foyer which overlooked the indoor theme park and main stage where various performances were being shown.

After dinner, as it was close to 11 pm, walked back to Highlands Hotel to one of my favourite spots to have a cup of coffee at the open air foyer where we get to enjoy the night scene and lovely weather. If I am not mistaken, the weather at this time was around 14 Celsius.

As it came close to midnight, we walked back to the cable car station and got our ride down. We did not want to take a gamble and wait till 12.30 am for the last cable car down just as a precautionary manner.

We were back to the car park at the cable car station around 12.30 and from there it was a slow drive home.
