From Kuala Lumpur, it is around 40 Kilometers away, right at the border of Shah Alam and Klang, it would perhaps be more appropriate if I say that it is neighbouring Bukit Raja Industrial Estate in Klang but geographically, it is in Shah Alam district.
Heading here is quite simple. just take the North South Highway (MKVE) and exit at Klang. From there, keep left and take the first exit heading towards Subang Jaya. Within a short distance, keep left and you would see another sign pointing towards i-City. This is the immediate exit, at a distance of 300 meters from the previous turning. Once you are on this road, just drive straight past the first traffic light and shortly thereafter, take the turn right. Here you would see the main arch of i-City.
Historically, i-City was officially launched around 2 years ago. This is intended to be an IT (Information Technology) park by the day and at night, it is beautifully decorated by these LED lights. This site is also one of the MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor) sites in the state of Selangor.
The is an entrance fee of RM 10 per car. It is best to pay the parking fee the moment you enter the place, the time that you spend here does not matter as it is a flat fee.The park opens from 6pm up to midnight on weekdays and until 1 am on weekends. From around 11pm, the que to the autopay machines for parking can extend up to more than a hundred people, thus I would strongly advise to pay upon entry.
If possible, please only leave the place after midnight or before 10 pm. The traffic jam caused by the bad parking management would take easily up to 90 minutes from the time you start your car and exit the park, causing lots of disgruntled people, some even losing their temper and getting into arguments. I heard that this problem has been there since the first day and nothing much has been done to improve this.
That being said, this is a great place to spend time with the family, especially the children in the weekends. The entire place is beautifully lit with various LED lights all year round, every day. Besides this, there is also a small theme park where one can take various rides, of course for a separate fee. But please be patient as there can be quite a long wait, especially on a Saturday night.
We spent around 2 hours walking around and then we moved on to the next attraction, the Indoor Reptile Park. This is the largest indoor reptile park which has not only reptiles but also amphibians. The entrance fee is RM 8 per person and surely worth it especially for a shutter bug like me. I hope you would like the photos that I have posted here.
Besides the park, there are also loads of other indoor video games arcades, eateries, restaurants, banks and many other activities that could be done here.
The highlight of this location is the Snow House. This is a large area, where snow has been artificially created. The entrance fee after 6pm is RM 25 per pax for Malaysians and RM 50 for foreigners. Senior citizens do enjoy a 50% discount of the ticket. Here, its not like the real snow but blocks of ice with loads of carvings. The temperature is set at 0 Celsius. Winter clothing are provided for free too. Photography is not allowed inside but I did take some photographs and saw many others doing the same too. I guess, the authorities do not really enforce the rule. Kind would surely enjoy themselves here.
Well, with this, it was almost midnight and we head back to pay the parking tickets. To wait for parking payment took about an hour and by the time we exited from the car park to the main exit gates, took another 90 minutes.
Seriously, that was a bad imprint to leave on us, especially after we had tired ourselves by walking around the large area. By the time we exited, we were almost at the end of our wits. Moreover, we have not had our dinner yet and were planning to have it outside. Finally, we had our dinner at a diner along the highway at 2 am and we were back home around 3.30 am.
Unlike my previous trips which has a series of entries from various places, this entry is solely to highlight this location in Malaysia. I have seen this location being used by many movie producers in their movies, especially from India where song scenes are shot here, hence I felt that it deserves to be highlighted. Another reason is when I was searching the internet for more information and photos of this place, I could not find anything that was very useful, thus thought of providing my contribution as well.
Hope the above information helps and enjoy the photos please.
