As we went along the places, somehow the weather became too hot and it was a little unbearable for us, so we decided to head to the hotel, check in and get some rest.

We stayed at Hermes Palace Hotel, the only 4 star hotel in the city and there are no hotels here which are beyond this star rating. This hotel is located in the city proper. It had a very thorough security screenings including having all guests to walk through metal detectors. 



Security measures were tight here as this is the main hotel were political events are held too, thus sometimes even governors and even the President of Indonesia stays here whenever he is in Aceh. As for us, once we were in, the driver handled the entire check in procedures.

This is the only place where guys are allowed to wear short pants and ladies to be a little flexibly dressed, yet for Moslem's, the head scarf and loose clothes is a must. Elsewhere in Aceh, even non Moslem ladies cannot wear tight clothing, skirts, shorts or even sleeveless tops. 

 



Coming back to this hotel, there is also a bar and a snooker lounge located on nthe basement level of this hotel and only foreigners who are patrons of this hotel are allowed is. Having said that as alcohol and all other gamings are banned across Aceh, the price of a beer is extremely expensive here. On average, a mug of beer is priced around USD 15 . 

The rooms, are excellent but the rates are a little on the high end too, this too just because there is a watering hole and a snooker center here. The daily rate is USD 200 per night. But the in room services was great too. The TV had more than 90 channels for us to watch.



 

Once in the room, we just relaxed ourselves and were truly glad to have air condition in the rooms. We were in the hotel until 7 pm where we had planned for the driver to fetch us there after heading to our next destination.
