Not very far from the earlier spot, lies this little attraction. This is the place where a 25 meters length boat which was swept from the sea inland for 1 KM by the tsunami wave lies.

This boat was carrying 56 crew when the tsunami hit Aceh and surprisingly all the crew were safe, though they landed on the second floor of a house 1 KM away from where they had docked the ship and destroying numerous homes along the way as the waves swept this boat.

When the wave subsided, they discovered themselves being over a house, crashing through the second floor of the house, but all the crew unharmed. The other funny thing was that with the tsunami waves, a crocodile was also found to be clinging itself to the bottom of the boat and it safely landed on the house with them too.

As funny as that may sound, yet it was a blessing for all of them to be in the boat. Today, this place marking this incident has been preserved by the local authorities and it has been converted into a tourist attraction. Well, all footprints of the tsunami are the only tourist attraction in Aceh anyway.

Today there is a pedestal and a shed built over this ship to protect it from wearing off due to rain and shine. When I was there, there were quite a number of visitors with a mixture of both locals and foreigners. Though this place has gained popularity, the authorities are not charging any fee to the tourists. I believe they should charge a nominal fee at least to maintain this area better and provide better parking management, which seems slightly lacking now.
