Its been great hanging out in Manchester and because we're staying with Danielle and Matt we're living as the locals do!!!  The most exciting thing for me and something I've missed a great deal since living in England 2001-2003 was getting into the old Sainsburys and checking out all the fantastic vegetarian food!!!  Oh how I've missed seeing the tick of approval on millions of products!!  I am a total kid in a candy store in supermarkets and I was running up and down the aisles throwing all my old favorites in -Linda McCartney pies, sainsbury crisps, myriad varieties of excellent cheese without rennet - smoked, blue vein, brie, old english cheddar, vintage aged for 2 years - oh the joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You may think this crazy and you would probably be right!!!!  I am big on cooking and usually packet or frozen foods are not on my menu, but hey, I'm on holidays, I'm in one of the undisputed vegetarian capitals of the world and I probably won't get to have these fun things for too much longer so -turn on the oven I say!!!!
Ohhh another most joyous thing I missed, Pizza Hut!!! In England they use rennetless cheese and have veggie tongs and servers, all you can eat buffet of veggie pizza hut delights - doesnt take too much to please me hehehe!!!
I couldnt end the post without mentioning my beloved TWIGLETS! The most wonderful of savoury snacks.  For those not in the know, they're shaped like pretzel sticks and are coated in what can only be descibed as a burnt vegimite taste - its an aquired thing but once you start, you're hooked forever!!!!!!
No, England is not known for its fine dining, but it sure has some rather fun simple vegetarian food and snacks!
