After careful and prolonged thought about trekking to Vienna or Prague (both turning out to be really expensive in high summer) we decided Essen, one important reason being we needed airconditioning!! Hottest summer in Germany for a long while, probably thanks to me! Everywhere I go, I always take the weather with me....!
After arriving here we soon realised Essen provides us with great comfort!!! Air, even a Walmart (cheap supermarket), Bio supermarket (for amazing vegi snacks and the best range of veg cheese we´ve ever seen!!) One other great point - Essen is in the middle of a bit of a train hub! 2hrs to Amsterdam, 2hrs to Brussels and a lot of places in Germany to visit too including Beethoven´s Bonn!!! So we are making Essen our base for 6 nights and taking day trips all around!!! Tomorrow the plan is Amsterdam!
