Amazing experience with a small plan landing over those mountains.
It looks like you put the time 30 years back.
All what you see around you is nature. People are very friendly.
The bus driver say: we go with the Flo in Dominica. About 20 minutes drive from the airport we find a place to sleep in the village " Calibishie". A nice village on the sea. You can see Guadeloupe on the other side. There are a few nice beaches around this area. In the North of Dominica you have whit sand beaches, beaches where you can stay all the day alone.
I tell you: when you want to bee away from the modern western world: This is the place to bee. We have a beautiful time in this area. A few days later we travel around the island.
Dominica has rivers, waterfalls like water. Nice hiking tracks. On the other side of the island is the see like a lake, so calm is that water. The capital: Roseau is a typical Caribbean village: that's how i see it. Colonial buildings and small streets. Busy. Champagne beach you need to visit: this is a surprise under water, that's all what i say about it.
Boeling lake: this you need to do: amazing experience: but not easy, it takes around 7 hours.
When you talk about a hike, this is a heavy one, i tell you.
Victoria Falls and Sari Sari falls: you need to do this also. You go see it.
All what i can tell you: i came in love whit this island.
Visit Dominica when you can. That's my message!
