It was a 2 and a half hour drive. The hotel is in a side road and so we double parked off-loaded kids and baggage and headed to the parking garage. 'luckily! they are having a public transport strike so the cameras that restrict entry to the centre of Rome are switched off so we shouldn't get a fine for driving in the historic centre!
The hotel is very nice and seems centrally located.
We for on the hop- on, hop-off bus and sat for the full 2 hour loop! You get earphones to plug into your seat and then listen to a commentary on the sites you passing -we are old hats at this, having done it in London, Paris and now Rome. Unfortunately, 'some' of the kids have worked out they can plug the earphones into their iPods and listen to cool music rather than have a history lesson!!!
We got off at the Trevi Fountain stop and everyone threw a coin in to ensure they return to Rome.
