Well I asked for it and I got it!!! Adventure. When i got off the plane I was like 'what in the hell have I gotten myself into' Looks like the natives are getting restless!!'

In all seriousness this is the furthest south of the Philippines you can go and looks like the poorest. An experience, makes realize once again how lucky we are to have been born in North America.

The Airport was one small old terminal with no walk ups to board or disembark the plane,  just get off the plane on the tarmac and that's it. (lol) I've seen this kind of setup before in the jungles of Iquitos Peru but didn't expect to see it here. Was kinda surprised but nothin really surprises me anymore. This is the direct opposite of Hong Kong, were i just came from. But you gotta love it!
Life is beautiful and ya gotta 'roll with it'.

Not too much I can say about this place but now that I've been in the North of the Philippines and the furthest south I am starting to get a 'handle' on the Filipino's. They remind me of Peruanos in many ways, loud, most of the population has very little education, inconsiderate of others and most have never traveled outside the Philippines. They still are a beautiful people but unfortunately because of poverty always 'have their hand out', women and men alike.

I'm going a little more north to Cebu next and work my way up to Manila to see if the middle of the Philippines is the same....stay tuned peeps...

Man, I must say, I admire what you are doing. I wish I could travel and see half off what you've seen. You must have planned for this trip a long time. Are you tracking your overall expense for the entire trip? It would be nice to know how much it costs in round figures. Please keep your fans posted as to how are things going. I, for one, have been following your whole trip. It's like a dream vacation come true. Through your eyes and photos, I've seen more than I ever dreamed possible. One question. Do you ever get lonely traveling alone?

Lionel on

Oh! Please take pictures of both the good and the bad scenes.

yes, I do get lonely traveling alone, but most people dont have the free time that I have, especially my closest friends because Im only 44. Many times I wish people especially 'our' people had the pleasure to see the world as I have seen it. It can make you laugh and make you cry. The poverty, the new perspective on myself, the new perspective on being 'American' and the sheer 'lunacy' of it all is incredible.

Unfortunately most people in the usa dont even own a passport. Even my family has never visited me. I think its crazy because they have a direct link to someone who knows these societies that most people only come to for only 1 week at a time. On most of my trips I stay for a month or more especially in latin America. They can use my knowledge but they dont see the value. Americans think that 'America is it'. Phooey on them!

oh, by the way Thanks for the admiration. I didnt keep a running tally on the cost but overall i keep a budget of about $2000 a month, it can be done on $1500 a month though the key is to keep lodging cost and plane cost down and plan ahead.

Newly built airport is on its way. Hope you
can see more of the beauty of our country
than poverty, pollution etc. There are more
to discover and to appreciate. Hope you
can check out Camiguin, just about 2 hours
from Cagayan. Davao, my place, better city
than any other here. Palawan, Bohol,
Siquijor are some of the best for nature
tripping and adventure. Will be following
your journey. happy travels!
