We moooved in the condo, beautiful! Were promised an airconditioner but never got one, and in equador 3 hours from the equator you need one! Dammit! So we stayed anyway because of the jacuzzi and the pool and the beach nearby to cool off and of course because the SOB had my deposit because the condo was completely furnished. But......... the straw that broke the camels back was the end of the second week there the electric was turned off because the lady didnt pay it!! So I said the hell with this and after two weeks we left so the cost averaged tol a hotel stay of $40 a nite. Dammit!! Thats high for Ecuador folks but hey this is like the sixth city in Ecuador we went to and one bad experience, were still ahead of the game.
So on to Quito, which is the capital of Ecuador.
Quito is like another country, the climate is between 55 / 65 degrees and surrounded by the Andes Mountains. I have never before in my life seen such beauty, Im serious... Natural waterfalls, mountain structures, it was breathtaking too bad I dont have pictures, next time though, and there will be a next time soon. The city is big and because of the elevation I found myself short of breath alot and hard to walk and talk at the same time but as we stayed more and more dys my body grew accustomed to it.
Even though the city was beatiful I wouldnt live there because 55/65 degrees is too cold for me. We stayed at the Hotel de Sol in the New city. The city divided into two parts the old and the new city. The hotel was $40 a nite and was pretty swanky. We needed a king sized bed and a good weeks rest after the stress of Manta. The city is complete with trolleys and ssuch and as modern and any American city complete with malls etc. KFC, Pizza Hut and all that stuff.
This is a good city for a weekend getaway, on to Guyaquil, the place where we begun our viaje grande (big ttrip)
