My favorite stop along the trek. The village sits at the bottom of a gorge between two ranges, right on the river that split them. Our hotel has a waterfall just behind it. I'll try to upload some pictures.
We got in at a decent time, so I spent the day walking around. I started talking with a few locals - small group of 20-somethings. Then it seemed like the whole village came around-- I was literally the only non-Nepali in town. The kids loved seeing their faces on the digital camera. As the sun set, I talked with the village's teachers. Working for the government, they simply get placed; that can mean anywhere, even a remote village like where we were. Most accept that they'll have to live away from their family to earn a living. One was hoping to call his wife and 2 month old child, but they couldn't get the satellite working to make a phone call: no power in the town. I found it amusing that the English teacher couldn't really speak English...
Overall, the people have a great spirit about them and really appreciate their simple life...
