Where I stayed
We have just got back from the Pi Pi island day tour by speedboat, which went to Maya Bay famous from The Beach film, plus other islands; we had a great day and excellent trip (great another all day boat trip – but I seem to be finding my sea legs with the help of travel sickness pills and the excitement of a speed boat!).
The boat trip went to:-
Maya Bay (Scene from the film "The Beach")
Bamboo Island – Lovely beach and good snorkelling, once grew a bamboo harvest.
Viking Cave – Old cave with drawings of Viking ships, now used to harvest nest for Chinese bird nest soup.
Phi Phi Don – stop for Thai lunch – very good, spicy and hot in some dishes.
Lohsamah Bay – Beautiful emerald green lagoon off Phi Phi Ley.
Monkey Bay – Island inhabited with…. cheeky monkeys – quite literal these Thia's with their names.
Pictures speak a thousand words – so see photo’s below.
The speedboat was not perhaps as authentic as the Thai long tail boats but it did cut the journey time by half, giving more time swimming and snorkelling.
We have been here at Ao Nang beach for a week and are due to move on to Kho Lanta a bit further south, we both agree that time seems to be flying by. We are really enjoying it and are trying to make the most of every experience and everyday.
We actually bumped into someone at Bangkok airport we worked with fifteen years ago back in the old days at the NHS– what a small world! We also found the first McDonald's of our trip, but only gave in to a couple of ice creams, they were excellent value (@ 7 baht) and just as cold and creamy!
Glad everyone seems to be enjoying the blog, its good to get all the e-mails and messages. We have had very limited e-mail and internet access over the last week, so sorry (mainly Mum) if we have not been in contact much.
It’s a big world out here and the southern Thailand islands are truly stunning, yet in common with the world over the locals seem to take it all for granted.

PS: Anne has forgiven me for stealing her e-mail and posting it as part of the last blog, but she can not be bothered to rise from the sunbed to write again so soon.

I am very envious! Now I do not want to ruin your trip but look who is now renting your place http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1268111/Kerry-Katona-gets-know-new-neighbours-Godstone.html
nah you can't fool me - you are both having a rotten time & are hating every minute of it! I can tell by the photos! wot you need is a daily routine - get up, go to work, cook dinner, do the shopping/cleaning/washing, watch fascinating political party broadcasts on telly, wash hair, pay bills, wait in for the gas man who never arrives, eradicate spam blah blah...
Anne - you look far too relaxed ................ we'll have to take you back into SLAM when you run out of pills. Green with envy..............Ax
Hi Nick and Anne,
Hope your travels are still going well - just a note to say thank you both for the wedding e-card, that's very thoughtful of you. We'll toast your travels on Saturday!
Best wishes, Simon
Looks bl**dy marvelous, though did you have to have your pants hanging on the speedboat for the photo?
