Saying all that, if you got out of Pai and explored the countryside it was wonderful. Full of lush green hills and friendly villagers. The night life was fab as I went to Be-Bops which had a live band covering classic Nirvana, Cream, Foo Fighters etc. Then went on to a bar called Ting Tong (means crazy in Thai) which has to be the most amazing bar I have ever been to. You cross a bamboo bridge to get to an outdoor bar with candles and really stylish decor.
The funky Thai bar men were so amusing and happy hour occured every 20 mins! Needless to say as I came back at 4am I realised I had taken no photos so I stole the one above to give you an idea.
Pai is great for a low key, chilled party scene but it is a tourist town and to see the real Thailand you have to get out and explore.
Going back to Chiang Mai soon to get an overnight bus to Bangkok then a plane to Cambodia. As a 2 of you know, it will be a small physical challenge!! ;)
