Where I stayed
We started out all smiles on a 747.
During a stopover in Beijing and got to see the new Terminal 3 at Beijing Capital Airport. Magnificent new building opened last month in preparation for the Olympics.
Notice how after 13 hours of flying, when we boarded the plane for Beijing to Singapore ...there are no smiles!
Our first day in Singapore was VERY tiring after 20 hours of flying. We pushed ourselves to keep going so that we'd go to sleep at a normal hour for the local time and reduce jet lag (we only made it to 6pm!). Upon check-in at the hotel Pan Pacific Marina Bay, we had coffee!
We started out by visiting the central business district along the Sinapore River. Here there is the Merlion, the mythical half-fish, half-lion symbol of Singapore.
----------
On June 2, after Martin headed to WORK(!!), I went to Singapore's Chinatown
We had dinner at a seafood restaurant at the Boat Quay -- total tourist trap, but great view and relaxing way to spend the first evening in Singapore.
