Finally made it North of Florence to walk along the beach at the most photographed lighthouse in Oregon and the Oregon weather came back to say hello.  Heceta beach is a small beach surrounded by cliffs and a small outlet from the surrounding mountains.

After walking along the beach and getting water in my boot after about 10 minutes on the beach, I started the hike up the hill to the Heceta Lighthouse.  The walk is a fairly easy one, even in torrential rain, walking by the keepers house and along the cliffside where you can get really clear shots of the beachside cliffs.

Once at the top, the lighthouse was pretty cool, but you couldn't see into any of the windows or doors to the interior as the tours were off season.  Guess you'll have to plan a trip during the summer, which would probably help you avoid the bad weather.  I say 'help' as it is no guarantee in Oregon!

It rained most of the day, which made it hard to keep my camera lens dry without a lens hood. I didn't stay long at the top as my hands were getting hard to move in the cold and I had run out of lens cloths that were dry, but the climb was worth it.

I spent the rest of the afternoon along the coastline between Florence and Yachats where I stopped for dinner in my ridiculous attire.

The Heceta Lighthouse House (is that right?) used to be a B&B. Maybe it is seasonal. And don't forget it is haunted. Several reported sightings of a "woman" in the lighthouse as well as the house. Hmmm, might be kind of fun!
