I planned on being in Port Orford by tonight, but I got a little carried away once I hit the Oregon Coast.  I got across the border at about noon and spent the next 5 hours meandering a total of 37 miles!  I stopped in Brookings first and checked out the harbor and had a quick bite to eat at a local place before skipping out.  The town itself wasn't really that special and had wayyyyy too many Mexican restaurants for being so far from the border.  I'm talking 5 to 1 ratio here...

As soon as I got out of Brookings, I practically stopped at every viewing point to check out the scenery.  Apparently the stretch between Brookings and Gold Beach is supposed to have some of the best coastal scenery in Oregon (so says the Southern Oregon Guide).  There was a vista point or State Park every half mile that had it's own appeal.  It always amazes me that for a state that has such a small budget the public facilities really are top-notch.  The beaches; the roadsides; everything is clean, working and beautiful.  California really should take note.

I got some good shots today, but I have a lot to do tomorrow since I took my sweet time today. I'm hitting Port Orford, Bandon and Charleston tomorrow which is a lot to do in one day! Hopefully that crazy fog clears up for tomorrow... Welcome to the Oregon Coast.
