Where I stayed
Emily Hotel

We decided to go to Pandan Island on the west coast rather than travel down the east coast and get a boat straight to Boracay and sent an email reserving a bungalow.
There was no electricity on the morning we set out and consequently no wifi, so I didn't get to check that my reservation was confirmed before we set out on the 10.30am boat to Abra  further up the coast - there's no road between Puerto Galera  and Abra.  From there we got a van to Sablayan and one of the guys on the boat rang the Pandan Island Resort for us , but they were full.  We stayed at the Emily Hotel by the river instead.
An extremely grim, windowless room with 2 beds and a fan with even grimmer shared wc/shower, but only P400.  After we'd walked over the foot bridge and around  the settlement by the beach we realised how palatial Emily was.
Boated over to Pandan the next day (P120 each just to land) and Jon did a dive and swam round the island in the afternoon.  Saw 2 big turtles too. I found a hammock and read.
Back on the mainland finding dinner and beers proved difficult, but we persevered.
Saturday we were on the island by 7am so Jon could go diving Apo reef on an all day outing.  I resumed occupancy of my hammock and consumed novels.  The dive boat broke down so Jon didn't get back till nearly 7pm and we kept missing each other in the dark (very minimal lighting on the island).
Beers and pork sticks at the place we found the night before.
