***I'm going to split the Sahara adventure blog into three different segments because I took so many pictures. First, the portion from Marrakesh to Ait Ben Haddou, with a short stop in Ouarzazate. Second, pictures from Ait Ben Haddou. And lastly, the time spent in the actual Sahara with a few shots from the drive home and our last evening in Marrakesh.***

By the time our hostel owner had fully convinced us to go on the Sahara tour, we were pretty excited about it. We woke up at 6:30 AM to have a quick breakfast before we were picked up in a 8 person tourist van by our driver. We were the first pickup, followed by an Italian couple and three hilarious British students. We headed out of Marrakesh driving southeast towards a little town called Ait Ben Haddou, but this specific blog entry consists of the pictures taken during the drive from Marrakesh to ABH.

Turns out that Moroccan landscape is quite stunning. We started in an area predominated by green pastures and sheep, but the scenery became progressively more desert-like as our drive continued. Very lucky that Michelle and I had our nice cameras because we were able to take mostly-clear pictures out the window of the fast moving car if we used the correct setting. Also, the driver was kind enough to stop when the scenery got particularly amazing. He could hear our cameras clicking from the back of the van and thought that we were absolutely hilarious for taking so many pictures.

We stopped for a longer bathroom/shopping/snack break in Ouarzazate, but most of my pictures from this town were taken when we returned for lunch the next day (the light was better). So, they are included in the last Sahara blog.

The drive from Ouarzazate to Ait Ben Haddou became profoundly more mountainous—the Atlas mountains are pretty neato and we took a million pictures. I think you are probably getting the gist of this blog—mainly pictures since we were sitting in a van, not doing anything particularly exciting.
