After 22 hours I finally arrived in Allahabad. Nobody told me that I had to change buses in Allahabad. Fortunately my bus driver mate came to my rescue and made sure that I was on the correct bus to Varanasi. It is about 130 km to Varanasi but this trip took nearly 4 hoursee a cramped hot bus. Managed to get a Tuk Tuk from the bus stationed after traveling for another 40 minutes and manoeuvering down some dark twisted lanes was eventually deposited outside the Sai Krippa hotel. Very pleasant place with a great roof terrace and good restaurant. Met Gopal, the resident chef who hails from Nepal. Got on well so he is going to teach me some of his recipes. What a days traveling for but at least a happy ending.
Tomorrow will explore Varanasi and get my first view of the mighty Ganges or as it is called in India - The Ganga.
