Today we boarded the train that would take us across the vast country of Russia. The trip would take five days, non-stop, with only a few fifteen minute breaks to stretch our legs. Our cabin was rustic, but acceptable. We brought food for our trek through Mongolia, but ended up eating half of it on the train ride because the food was atrocious in Russia, at least what we were exposed to. The journey itself was uneventful, just a continuous landscape rolling past our window. We did meet a German couple that we ended traveling with in Mongolia. But that comes later. some of the russian cities we passed through were: yekaterinburg, omsk, krasnoyarsk, irkutsk, and ulan ude.
