After the interesting tour of the bridge, it was time to set sail. Also the second time it was as impressive as the first time. Even the guests that have been several times on the ship are still impressed by this spectacle. It takes almost one hour until all the sails are set.
After lunch unfortunately, some clouds came up and the temperature cooled down a little. Luckily, they have warm blankets and so we could still sit on deck and enjoy the sailing.
Later in the afternoon we had the chance to visit the engine room. The room was much bigger than, and the engines were much smaller than expected. Some people would be impressed by the power of the engines, I was more impressed by how colorful they were.
Then it was time to take the sails down. This, to me, is the even bigger spectacle than setting them. Because the guys are climbing in the masts and then have to tie up the sails. From below this looks funny and sometimes you only see pairs of legs flying around.
In the evening we had a BBQ dinner.
There is no fixed seating at the dinners so every meal we meet new people and have intersting conversations. Lots of guests have been on the Sea Cloud or her sister Sea Cloud II several times (some up to 15 times) so they have lots of stories to tell. Also some of the crew members have been working on the ship for as long as 30 years. Crew and passengers seem like a big family.
