Try as I might, I can't shake the rain cloud positioned just over my head today.  Rolled myself out of bed at 1:00a, couldn't get back to sleep, put myself in working order, chugged luke warm coffee and delightfully made my way to the airport without a care to be had.  Then I got to thinking of what I would do first when I landed in beautiful Romulus...take a shower? drive to the store straightaway for the cereal I've been craving for the better part of 3 weeks? Maybe even kiss the soil that has made me the midwestern cynic I am today?  Michigan was my oyster in about 20 short hours.  That is until my stand by status had me standing by while my plane took off without me on it. 

Wait...what?  This couldn't be!

And to add insult to injury, there is only one flight per day out of Bangkok on Delta.  Now before you scold me for chomping at the bit to get back to Detroit of all places, I had it all worked out in my noggin.  I've timed usage of shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and hairspray to last until today (pretty perfect, right?). That, and I had my little heart set on arriving at a very specific time with little room for error.  In general, I have the patience of a bull running the streets of Pamplona...easily verified with my twin sister and anyone who has had the honor of seeing us bicker.  Most days I'm pretty good at hiding behind a pretty calm exterior, but today I had gone all in and got a sorry beating by the sky gods in return.  So I promptly collapsed into tears like a little girl and put serious thought into laying on the ground in protest. And then called my mom to whine and cry some more. Twice.

After reading this and my terrible attempt at overcoming adversity, I've decided I'm a real catch.

Operation Motown Touchdown 2.0 commences tomorrow at the same time.  Stay tuned.
