After a beautiful drive from Crater Lake we arrived at the Rodeway Inn in the early evening, a little tired and hungry after climbing Mt Scott earlier in the day. The motel was nice and we slept well.

We hadn't researched Portland much so we ended up just chatting over a Denny's breakfast about what we should do. We headed for the gardens as it was a nice clear day. We spent a while wandering around, with me wishing I had a garden so I could plant some of the varieties that were there. Afterwards we headed up the hill to walk around the Japanese Gardens which were beautiful. There was a view over the city but it was a bit hazy and some of the trees had grown up too high and cut parts of it out. The gardens shut at 16:00 so we headed back into town to check out one of Portland's local breweries, Bridgeport Brewpub and Bakery.

The Bridgeport Brewery was right by a supermarket so we got some supplies and then headed to the pub for a sampler beer selection and some great food. The rain started to come down but we were in the safe and warm so didn't mind one bit. On the way home we grabbed a tub of Ben & Jerry's each to enjoy while watching a movie. I had Cream Brulee and Adrian had Karamel Sutra. Both very nice but my favourite is still Half Baked.

We didn't have long in Portland and the next morning we decided it would be nice to get in early to Seattle.
